Kalasam That metal part over the temple.. which u can find on most of the temple in INDIA... it as some Technical reason y it has placed there b4 1000 of yrs.....
1. Kalasam is aaimed at increasing the glory and power of the Hindu deities.
2.according to one of the oldest proverb (KOVIL ILLA OORIL KUDIYIRUKKA VENDAAM) i.e; Dont live in the place where there is no temple(Translated). These kalasam works as a lightning arrestor and protect the near by residents upto 8 kilometers Radius......
3.Each Kalasam is packed with 50 to 100 kgs of Kambu(Millet).. and thats for wen any natural disaster like Tsunami, cyclone, forest fire, flood cause the ppls to lose there life and once after they lose everthing they can take the kalasam and these millets can be used to cultivate and reconstruct there daily needs...
